Statements by the
Anti-Imperialist Network meeting
at the Preparatory Assembly of the European Social Forum
in Istanbul, on 22 May 2010
The Anti-Imperialist Network of the European Social Forum, on occasion of the meeting held in Istanbul on 22 May 2010 in Istanbul for organizing the works of Social Forum, made the following statements.
As it has been told in the European Preparatory Assembly of the Social Forum in Istanbul, the crisis of capitalism is becoming a real war against the popular masses. Facing the latest developments that, starting from Greece are wide spreading all over Europe, the Anti-Imperialist Network states that only thinking to another possible world belongs to the past. Present times need something new. We need to understand that this other possible world is socialism, and we have to struggle for building it. The way out from the capitalist crisis is socialism.
The Anti-Imperialist Network declares its solidarity to popular masses' struggles in Greece and in the other countries of the world, who struggles to defend themselves against the war the bourgeoisie is waging against them. It declares its solidarity to all the workers all around the world struggling as a vanguard of the popular masses, and in particular to the Turkey workers of Tekel, whose resistance is going on for months, and who were in the forefront in Istanbul in the conquest of Taksim square, which the regime had forbidden to workers' demonstration for more than a decade.
The Anti-Imperialist Network declares its solidarity to the communist and revolutionary movement of Nepal, which is advancing successfully in the struggle for democracy and national sovereignty, for overthrowing feudalism, against oppression and Indian State expansionism.
The Anti-Imperialist Network declares its solidarity to the resistance of indigenous people and of its communist movement resisting to the war the Indian state declared against them, the war called Operation Green Hunt, that plans appaling slaughters, expropriations of lands and environmental devastation. Besides, the Anti-Imperialist Network declares its solidarity to the writer and human right defender Arundathi Roy, persecuted because she denounces Indian State barbarity.
The Anti-Imperialist Network declares its solidarity to peoples struggling against imperialist aggressions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and everywhere.
The Anti-Imperialist Network declares its solidarity to the people struggling for national liberation, to Palestinian, Kurdish, Basque, Irish people. It declares its solidarity to Irish political prisoners struggling against the awful condition they have to endure in Bahagonny prison.
The Anti-Imperialist Network is committed to get the European Social Forum to be a means for making workers and peoples' struggles win in Europe and all over the world. We invite every one of you to join our work and to participate in the European Social Forum of Istanbul on 1-4 July 2010.
