21.09.08/MLCP ACTIVISTS CELEBRATED THE ANNIVERSARY OF OUR PARTY

10th September, the anniversary of foundation of our party MLCP, was enthusiastically celebrated throughout Turkey/ Northern Kurdistan and in different countries of Europe. While the promise on strengthening the struggle and following the path of the martyrs was again raised, the 15th year of struggle coming up was saluted at all celebrations.
Actions and celebrations were organized in different cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan.


n Istanbul , posters were hanged up in many different boroughs on which it said "Glory to the party in its 15th year of struggle, for the victory of the revolution long live the MLCP". The communists gathering at Gulsuyu quarter prepared a cake and had a firework. In their speeches the communists declared that the attack on our party in September 2006 was successfully fought back. At the celebration at the quarter Gazi it was said that the claim to become a leading party has never been given up despite the attacks in September 2006. it was said: "We must promise that on behalf of our martyrs and our prisoners we will let hope grow everywhere in the 15th year of struggle starting."
In Adana the communists hanged up the banner read "In the 15th year of struggle with the party to the revolution and victory" in the hall where the celebration took place. The communists in Amed had prepared posters on which it said "Glory to the will advancing the struggle for freedom and socialism, glory to the creators of 10th September." After watching a film and listening to poems speeches were made in which the organization of the party in Kurdistan was mentioned.
In Izmir pictures of the martyrs were hanged up in the hall of the celebration. The communists emphasized that the operation in 2006 was an operation to break hope, but this was not achieved. At the begin of the 15th year of struggle the communists saluted the martyrs and prisoners and ate a cake on which it said "Glory to the hope in the 15th year of struggle coming up". The candles on the cake were blown out by some communists representing the youth, old, women, the previous and current generation in the name of the masses alongside with applause.
In Europe , communists gathered in Germany, England, Holland and France and after many years also in the city of Verviers in Belgium and celebrated the anniversary of the MLCP. In Paris communist women came together organized a celebration at which they stressed the 14 years of struggle of the MLCP.

17.09.08/MILITARY COUP OF 1980 CONDEMNED

On the 28th anniversary of the fascist military coup of September 12, 1980, tens of thousands of workers and labourers took the streets in many cities, and at first, in Izmir and Istanbul, and they demanded that those who are responsible for the coup should be judged.
One of these rallies was organised under the slogan "From the coup of September 12 to Ergenekon : Disband the counter-guerrilla, judge the putchists" on September 14 at Iskele Square at the district Kadiköy in Istanbul.

Thousand of people joined the rally responding the call of various organisations, among them the ESP , DTP , EMEP , SDP , Association 78liler, Halkevleri , Devrimci Hareket, Partizan and SODAP. Trade unions such as Deri-Is , Limter-Is and Tekstil-Sen also took place at the rally. The demonstrators carried the photos of the revolutionaries who were killed during the military coup. The police attack at the bloc of the revolutionary group "Partizan" was fought back by the anti-fascists at the rally. At the speeches from the stage, the balance of massacres, killings, tortures and imprisonments that were committed during the September 12 coup were announced. It was stressed that the environment of the coup was made continuous through the Constitution approved in 1982, that the generals responsible for the coup were still not brought t o justice and that there continues to exist a strong link among the putchist army and the counter-guerrilla organisation. It was demanded that the counter-guerrilla should be disbanded.
In Izmir, 40 thousand workers and labourers joined the rally that was organised by the DISK at Gundogdu Square. The protestors who marched towards the square departing from three different points condemned the fascist coup. They cried out the slogans "Judge the putchists!" and "Disband the institutions formed by the coup!" The rally started with one-minute-silence in honour of the revolutionaries that were killed in 1980 and continued with the speech made by Suleyman Celebi, General President of the DISK.
In Ankara, anti-fascists condemned the coup through a rally organised at the Sihhiye Square. In many other cities such as Bursa, Antakya, Malatya, Antep and Dersim, the people raised their anger against the September 12 coup through various actions and activities.

17.09.08/PEOPLES' FESTIVAL AT SARIGAZI

The people of the labourers' quarter Sarigazi in Istanbul came together at the 8th Sarigazi festival against the generalization of criminal gangs and cultural degeneration. The festival organised by the ESP, DTP, Partizan, Peoples' Front, Odak, EMEP and Aka-Der on September 13-14 was participated by more than 15 thousand workers and labourers. During the festival, revolutionary and democratic organisations opened information and solidarity tables and organised seminars under the titles "Unemployment, poverty and attacks against the working class" and "Ergenekon, the AKP and the reality of counter-guerrilla". Many musicians and music groups such as Grup Umut Yagmuru, Grup Col Ruzgari, Seyfi Yerlikaya, Hasan Saglam, Nurettin Gulec, Bulent Turan, Grup Helesa, Grup Vardiya, Grup Yorum and Ferhat Tunc took stage at the festival. They made speeches at the stage condemning the mi litary fascist coup of September 12, 1980. At the speeches made on behalf of the organisers, it was stressed that the state tries to degenerate the labourers and to liquidate their culture but the peoples of Sarigazi will continue to defend their own culture like they always did in the past.

06.09.08/INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CAMP HOLD IN TURKEY

The international youth camp organised by the Federation of the Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) took place from August 26 to September 2 at Sotes Holiday Resorts in Dikili near Izmir. The camp took place under the slogan "we turn our face to Deniz" (Deniz refers to Deniz Gezmis and means in Turkish also Sea) and next to hundreds of young people from all over Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, also international delegates participated. To communicate the youth movement of ´68 and the struggle of the leaders of the revolutionary movement in Turkey of 1971 in Turkey Deniz Gezmis, Ibrahim Kaypakkaya and Mahir Cayan to the youth played an important role in the camp, where the young people experienced during a whole week all together the enthusiasm of joint discussions, production, of sharing and enjoying themselves.

The international delegates of the Youth Collective La Mochila (rucksack) of the Communist Party of Chile (Proletarian Action), of the youth of the Communist Organisation of Greece (KOE) from Greece, from the teachers trade-union from Lebanon, from the Socialist Thought Forum from Jordan, from the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), from the Revolutionary Communist Youth Union (Bolshevik) from Russia, from the All India Democratic Youth Organisation and from the New Generation Communist Youth Alliance Azerbaijan also shared their experiences in the panel discussions, seminars and conversations. They reported about the experience of struggle from the struggle created by the youth movement in Chile, of the Greek youth in the streets of Greece against the privatisation of education and shared also the developments and revolutionary struggle of Russia, India and Azerbaijan. The delegation from Palestine talked about their struggle for a socialist Palestine a nd the delegates from Lebanon and Jordan informed about the struggle in Lebanon and the Middle East and discussed the Grater Middle East Initiative of the USA.
The socialist youth enjoyed on one hand the collective way of learning and sharing in the numerous seminars and workshops, which took place in the camp and the cultural activities organised in the evenings on the other hand. A lot of different topics from theoretical issues up to recent political struggles have been discussed like the "topicality of Marxism", "Under the Pavement Still Lies the Beach" on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the youth movement of 1968 and "What happens in Tuzla", an open discussion about the strikes at the shipyards. The youth camp continued for one week with many events like also a big concert on August 31 and terminated after a joint evaluation of the camp and the closing event in the evening of the World Peace Day on September 1.

23.08.08/WAR SHIPS OF USA AND NATO IN THE BLACK SEA

After the Balkans and the Middle East the USA now wants to soak the Caucasus with blood and sent two NATO war ships to the Black Sea. Turkey gave permission that the war ships, which were sent claiming to bring "humane help" for Georgia, pass the Bosporus and thus showed once more that it is the accomplice of the USA.

On August 23, the ESP organised a protest action against the NATO war ships passing the Bosporus. At the demonstration from Istanbul Taksim to Dolmabahce (the place where the youth of 1968 under the leadership of Deniz Gezmis threw the soldiers of the 6th US Fleet into the sea) the ESP reminded the action against the 6th Fleet and the rejection of the parliament decision of March 1. The activists of the ESP carried a banner saying "out with the US Fleet. Yankee Go Home!" and posters of Deniz Gezmis at the demonstration. The brotherhood of the peoples of the Caucasus and the protest against imperialist wars were underlined in the slogans shouted at the action.

16.08.08/DURSUN KARATAS HAS BEEN LAUNCHED TO ETERNITY

Dursun Karatas, General Secretary of the DHKP-C, has lost his life because of cancer on August 11. Karatas has been buried at the Gazi Cemetery after the ceremonies in Europe and Istanbul.
DHKP announced that Dursun Karatas has turned into a martyr, through a statement dated August 11, 2008, with the following words: "Condolences to the peoples of Turkey and the world. We have lost a great revolutionary".

The corpse of Karatas was sent to Istanbul after a commemoration in Rotterdam/Netherlands. DHKP-C members and activists from all over Europe and the revolutionary organisations from Turkey, MLCP, MKP, PKK , TKP /ML and TKIP, participated at the commemoration. There his comrades made speeches explaining his life and struggle a documental containing pictures and videos from his struggle was projected. Then, his corpse was sent to Istanbul with the slogans "Leader Comrade Dursun Karatas", "DHKP-C is the name of hope".
The militants of the DHKP-C saluted Dursun Karatas through actions at Kucuk Armutlu and Gazi quarters on August 11 at night and at Okmeydani on August 12. The police attacks against these actions were fought back through resistances with stones and petrol bombs.
The corpse of Karatas was brought to Istanbul on August 14 and was buried on August 15. Thousands of people participated at his funeral that was realised at Gazi quarter. During the funeral, al the roads to the main street were cut and all the shopkeepers closed down their shops responding the call of the revolutionaries. The mass marched by shouting the slogans "Dursun Karatas is immortal", "DHKP-C is the name of hope", "Oligarchy, be afraid, DHKP-C is coming", "Salute to the leader, the struggle continues" and "Long live revolutionary solidarity" and by carrying red flags.
The militants of the DHKP-C participated at the march by opening the banner of the DHKP-C freely and shouting slogans in favour of it. Many revolutionary and democratic organisations, among them the ESP and the DTP, also participated at the funeral and strengthened the comradeship-in-arms.
