Let the most advanced women join the Communist Party and spearhead their comrades and the rest of the popular masses for making Italy a new socialist country and thus contributing to the second wave of proletarian revolution that moves all over the world!
The women’s struggle for their emancipation from exploitation, from bourgeois, clerical and patriarchal oppression, is a powerful force for the transformation of society!
The imperialist bourgeoisie, directly and through the Catholic Church, foments the division among the popular masses, especially the division between men and women, to keep women even more exploited and subjected than men!
Thanks to the general development that humanity has made in recent centuries and to the first wave of proletarian revolution, "the struggle of women for their emancipation and for taking an equal role in social life has become a more important and conscious component of the communist movement. With the development that humanity has had within the capitalist mode of production, all the objective conditions on which for millennia was based the enslavement of women to men were now finally removed: procreation as an essential work for the conservation of kind, muscular strength as essential component of the workforce and aptitude for combat, etc. The discrimination against women, such as racial discrimination, religious and other outstanding aspects of society, survives only because it is useful to the bourgeoisie to prolong the survival of its social order. The bourgeoisie hinders the emancipation of women, because it leverages on each division among the popular masses, because it has enrolled in its support all the forces survived from the past (particularly the Catholic Church) and because the mobilisation of women to take in social life an equal role with men contrasts with the need the bourgeoisie has to maintain all the popular masses in a state of subjection. On the contrary, the struggle against capitalism requires the mobilization of women workers and of the housewives of workers’ families, the struggle for the establishment of socialism requires the mobilization of the women of popular masses, the march towards communist society requires the elimination of inequalities between men and women: these three factors make necessary that the communist movement undertakes women’s emancipation as its own objective and open the way to women’s mobilisation for their emancipation. The struggle of women for their emancipation has become a component of the communist movement and enlarges the camp of the forces driving the new wav e of proletarian revolution.” ( Manifesto Program of the (new) Italian Communist Party, p. 40).
How far we have gone during the first wave of proletarian revolution and thanks to the foundation of the first socialist countries, compared with the times when, a hundred years ago, there was the first International Conference of Socialist Women and for the first time the International Women's Day was celebrated!
Even if the communist movement, because of its mistakes and limitations, has suffered losses from which it is still recovering only with difficulty and slowly, many of the conquests of that period are impressed in feelings, in mentality, in customs and habits of million women and men of the people. Even the revenge of the bourgeoisie, the clergy and other reactionary forces does not manage to cancel them.
The advancement of the crisis in the capitalist system makes increasingly heavy the conditions of millions and millions of women in every corner of the world. But the conquests got in the last century by women’s struggles for emancipation have fed a more advanced idea of the women’s role in society in many women and men, have generated a widespread revulsion against the conditions of oppression, exploitation and discrimination that women suffer from the bourgeoisie, the clergy and backward men and even more against those who wish to restore them. This revulsion daily and diffusely clashes, every day and in every corner of the world, against the growth of exploitation, oppression, discrimination and insecurity in work and in daily life, against the spread of prostitution and sadism that every day strikes and coerces the women of the popular masses as the crisis of the capitalist system goes on. The lowest wages and dirtiest and humblest works are for women and im migrants. Women and young people are increasingly confined to insecure or irregular jobs. Women and emarginated people are the favourite victims of coward violence of fascists and other backward people. Popular families’ difficulties of life, from health care to education system to the elderly aid, largely fall on women. Privatization and reduction of services affect women even more than men.
Also spontaneously, the struggle of women for their emancipation from the bourgeoisie, from the clergy and from the men becomes an increasingly important part of the resistance that the popular masses raise against the advancement of the general crisis of the capitalist system, in our country as in the rest of the world. The Women’s World Conference that is being prepared in many countries and that will be held in Venezuela in 2011 (www.weltfrauenkonferenz.de – www.worldwomenconference.org) will be the result and the testimony of women’s role in the resistance and will raise it to a higher level.
In particular, in our country, owing to the political crisis, the Pontifical Court with his Church takes a more direct role in everyday life. This further aggravates the conditions of the women of popular masses of our country. The Vatican does all kinds of manoeuvres to make history go backwards. In particular, it wants to remove what in past years women have conquered with the struggle: the right at least legal to divorce, the health care in abortion, the right to have sexual relations without remaining pregnant. The heavy threats done to the woman of Naples who had an abortion (12.02.08) go together with the abuses inflicted to the worker woman of a supermarket in Milan (2-28.02.08) and with the violence and rapes done within the family: they are episodes from the vast range of abuses and violence inflicted on women that widens every day. Each one of the thousands rev olts against every one of these acts of clerical and capitalist barbarism must converge in the fight to eliminate the capitalist system: the communists and the advanced elements of the popular masses must make each revolt become a school of communism.
The capitalist system is based on exploitation and class division. Inside the popular masses every bourgeois regime feeds contradictions and divisions to prevent wider layers of popular masses from finding the way to unite and fight against their exploiters. Surely social inequality between men and women and the oppression of women existed even before capitalism. They are one of the old plagues of the barbaric phase of human history. But capitalism has taken advantage of what it found, and it has found it useful for exploiting and making profits. It has supported the discrimination against women and today maintains and impose it by all the means at its disposal. The bourgeoisie and its accomplices and props (clergy, notables, etc.) set themselves in every way against social equality and women’s emancipation: the struggle to achieve them is not compatible with the preservation of their power over the popular masses and especially over workers.
In order to maintain the current conditions of exploitation and oppression of the women of the popular masses, the bourgeoisie must keep them the farthest possible from the conditions required to decide over their own lives, to participate actively in decisions on society functioning, and therefore drowns them in a sea of small daily concerns, force them to devote most of their physical and intellectual energies and resources for doing their best for spending, prices, bills, rent, mortgages, school services and so on. Only women who do not contrast, but rather support the current social order and collaborate to oppression of other women, here and there access to leading positions. They are the small or big Condoleeza Rice of the situation, the equivalent of collaborators and puppets politicians in occupied countries, the equivalent of corrupted trade unionists and demagogues.
The bourgeois regime makes stand at all costs a society that denies the popular masses sufficient conditions (wages, income, services, housing, etc..) to bring up children, and already forces many families, in the first place mothers and children, to a hard life: at the same time it would prevent women from having abortions legally, it would force them again to illegal abortion.
Communists are fighting for a society where to beget children will be a conscious and most of all possible choice, where women who do not want to have children will not be obliged to have abortion, in which women who decide to have an abortion will have the best health and psychological care possible. We communists want a society in which children are born desired and beloved, in which children’s birth, development, formation is a task of the entire society, not only of single families, and even less of women only. We want a society where the material conditions for a dignified life are guaranteed to everybody, like the air we breathe and then where we all, men and women, can devote our energies and resources to specifically human activities, those that distinguish men from other animal species. Today it is materially possible, it just needs to change the social order and establish socialism. The participation in the struggle for socialism will practically educate wo men and men to the new conditions for a dignified and truly human life. The women of the popular masses have the full interest in overthrowing the bourgeois regime and in building socialism. The real participation of the women of popular masses in the struggle to establish socialism depends mainly on the ability of the communists and of the most advanced elements of the popular masses to drive them in the movement, to make every their daily experience a school of communism. Here it is the decisive role of communist and other advanced women.
Through the struggle against the current social order, the struggle to overcome it and for the construction of a higher social order, that is socialism, the struggle of women for their emancipation will mobilize larger and larger layers of women, it will combine with the struggle of all the exploited and oppressed people and will get victory. The condition in which the bourgeois society compels workers, makes them the leaders of the struggle of all the exploited classes and all oppressed peoples against the imperialist bourgeoisie. Likewise, the condition in which it compels women, makes them important protagonists as well as an indispensable component of the socialist revolution. The emancipation of women is by its very nature primarily a work of the women themselves: it consists of the fact that women transform themselves, leaving the current condition of material and psychological dependence and get en masse an equal role in social life.
But the emancipation and social equality of women are also a prerequisite of communism. One of the great transformations that will be done in the socialist phase, in the course of transition from capitalism to communism which will be started by the victory of socialist revolution, will be the elimination of social inequality between men and women. The balance that Maoism has elaborated from the experience of first wave of the world proletarian revolution and in particular of the first socialist countries, shows it clearly. The communist movement develops only if it supports the emancipation of women on a large scale, if the struggle of women for their emancipation becomes an important component of its own, if at every level women become integral part of the communist movement. On the other hand, the women who will become protagonists and leaders of the communist movement, will complete women’s emancipation.
The mobilization of women of the popular masses against the current state of things is already strengthening also spontaneously because the current crisis of bourgeois regime drives million proletarian women to seek solutions to the worsening of their condition. The strength of women's resistance movement against the advancement of the crisis of the capitalist system is growing and is an indispensable force to combat bourgeois regime that wants to maintain women subdue and submissive. It is a power that can and must flow in the river of socialist revolution.
In the past, women's tenacious struggles and the support that the communist movement gave them, have allowed women to wring out better conditions of life and work, to improve their role in the family, in the management of children, in conquering the right to divorce and legal and assisted abortion. The contribution of women in anticapitalist struggle and in the struggle for socialism has enabled all the popular masses to obtain better living conditions to a great extent all over the world.
The communist movement must support every women's resistance struggle against the advancement of the crisis of the bourgeois social order, it must give and draw strength from each mobilization of women in defence of their conquests and to wring out better conditions of life and work. It must make every clash and every battle a school of communism.
Women’s emancipation consists of conquering an equal role in society. The emancipation for women is as the power for all the popular masses: you do not claim it, you realize it. The realization of this objective involves that women conquer an equal role in the communist movement, i.e. a vanguard role in the struggle to build socialism. By becoming members, protagonists and leaders of the communist movement, communist women do not claim, but realize the emancipation of women, and are its better and more advanced incarnation. Women who take and play a leading role in the communist movement, are the advanced point of the worldwide movement of women's emancipation.
The generosity, the spirit of sacrifice, the strength and determination, the intellectual, knowledge and organisational abilities that women have gained in their long history of struggle for life and for emancipation, are resources that ruling classes try in every way to hamper. When there will be broken the chains that entrap women in their state of exploitation and oppression, that force and lead them to devote themselves mainly to do all what they can in daily life, these qualities the women have gained and that are a material force will contribute to the construction of an order in which women's participation in society functioning will make the humanity do a leap forward that today we can imagine only with difficulty and only in broad terms.
In various parts of the world the rebirth of the communist movement is going on and the struggle of oppressed peoples seethes and mounts everywhere. Where this fight is more advanced and aimed at overthrowing the bourgeois regime and at building socialism, the role of women has prime importance. But everywhere the fight against imperialism flared, women sooner or later are at the forefront. The women comrades of Nepal, Philippines, Peru, Turkey, Colombia, Cuba, Palestine and many other countries are an example, some for an aspect and some for another, for the comrades all over the world, and pledge of freedom from oppression for the popular masses all over the world. Even in countries where the struggle against imperialism is still headed by clerical and reactionary forces, as in Iraq, Afghanistan and other Arab and Muslim countries, women are making their way: the more imperialists will carry out the occupation, the more the role of women will become crucial.
The new Italian Communist Party asks the women of popular masses of our country to take a leading role in the Party, in the rebirth of the communist movement, in the resistance to the advancement of the crisis: that is to say, in the fight to make Italy a new socialist country. The communist movement needs the strength of the women of popular masses and they, for their emancipation, need to become protagonists in the communist movement.
We ask the most generous women comrades to enrol in the (new) Italian Communist Party and bring in it everything positive they have gathered from their experience. Their future, the future of their children, the future of all the people they care, are only in the revival of the communist movement and in the victory of the socialist revolution: the obscene, chaotic and tumultuous seizures of bourgeois society, its crisis absurd for every person of good sense, but entirely logical according to capitalists' mentality and nature, the spread of war and insecurity, the wild and no-limits speculation of a handful of magnates finance that upsets the daily lives of billions of men and the women are demonstrating it day after day.
Nothing is fatal of what is happening around us! The current decay of the world is only the result of new deploy of nature of capitalists who are again free from the laces that the communist movement had imposed on them!
It is quite possible to put an end to the present course of things and establish a new social order based on common ownership of the means of production and on an economic activity planned for and aimed to the welfare of mankind!
The women of the popular masses, the labourer and worker women can contribute to the revival of the communist movement, to rebuild that network of anticapitalist mass organizations which made strong worker women and the other women of popular masses. This is what we need to prevent capitalists from continuing to freely deploy their barbaric nature. This is what we need to make Italy a new socialist country!
Against the undeclared war of extermination that the imperialist bourgeoisie is carrying out against the popular masses in our country as in every corner of the world, we must carry forward the revolutionary people's war until the establishment of socialism and immediately impose to the masters new laces like those that the communist movement already imposed during the first wave of proletarian revolution!
The ground is favourable for the revival of the conscious and organized communist movement! Let's make each claiming struggle a school of Communism! Let all episodes of women’s resistance make rise, expand and strengthen the organization and raising awareness of all exploited and oppressed peoples’ common struggle against the imperialist bourgeoisie, the clergy and the other props of the system!
The new Italian Communist Party is doing in Italy what the communists of other countries are doing in the rest of the world: to rebuild a powerful communist movement that will put again an end to capitalists' freedom and will establish socialism, bearing in mind the experience of the first socialist countries!
Let's learn from revolutionary people's wars by now advanced in Nepal, Philippines, India, Peru, Turkey!
Let's support the struggle against imperialist system that develops in many countries from Latin America to the Arab and Muslim countries, from Venezuela to Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine!
Let's participate in the preparation of the World Conference on Women in 2011, in Venezuela! Let's create committees in every city and country, to mobilize for the participation!
Let's mobilize the most advanced elements of the popular masses and in particular the most advanced and generous women for the rebirth of the communist movement and the consolidation and strengthening of the new Italian Communist Party!
Let's strengthen the central clandestine structure of the (new) Italian Communist Party, let's multiply the number of committees of the Party and improve their functioning, let's carry out the work on four fronts indicated by the General Plan Work!
Let's build in every firm, dwelling zone, mass organization a clandestine committee of the (n)PCI!
